William Armstrong OBE, Patron of TimeNorfolk
Our Patron, Norfolk-born lawyer William Armstrong served as the Coroner for Norfolk for nearly two decades. He holds a Master’s degree in Medical Law and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Law, and practised as a solicitor for thirty years, specialising in childcare and mental health law. He also served as a Mental Health Tribunal Judge for three decades and acted as a Legal Assessor to the General Medical Council (Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service).
A prominent figure in public life and voluntary organisations across the county, William was Sheriff of Norwich in 2014–15 and the inaugural Chair of Healthwatch Norfolk. He has been a member of the Chapter of Norwich Cathedral and now holds the title of Lay Canon Emeritus. Awarded an OBE in 2014, he has also received an honorary doctorate from the University of East Anglia.
