Are you connected to the NHS?

We receive some funding from the NHS, however we are an entirely independent service. Your GP or midwife may refer you to us, but you’re free to talk about your situation and/or experiences freely and openly.

Our counsellors are trained to work with clients from diverse backgrounds and we continuously review and update our practices to meet the needs of all clients. We are also committed to providing an accessible service and will work with clients to make necessary accommodations. Yes, absolutely. We understand that loss can have a lasting impact on individuals and their loved ones. Whether your loss was recent or a long time ago, our support services are available to you. How many sessions will I receive?

We offer up to 16 free counselling sessions, however many of our clients find they need around 12 sessions to process their feelings and start moving forward.

Why do I have to wait to be seen?

Our waiting list is typically 3 months, however you will have the option to have regular check-ins during this time. We aim to see clients with pregnancy choices within 48 hours, and pregnant people will also be given priority due to the time sensitive nature.

Who will I be seen by for my sessions?

We have a team of 25 compassionate counsellors, who all create a safe and confidential space where you can feel heard, supported, and understood. Our counsellors undergo specific training to understand the issues that face our clients, and are either fully qualified counsellors, or working towards a degree level counselling qualification. You can be assured that you will receive a high quality level of confidential support.

Is this service free to use?

We are able to provide our counselling services for free thanks to the support of our generous donors and grant funders. We believe that everyone should have access to the support they need during times of grief and loss, and we are committed to providing this service to our community.

I have another child, can I bring them with me?

We understand that it can be challenging to find childcare when attending counselling sessions, especially if you have another child. However, we ask that you refrain from bringing your child with you to your appointment to ensure that our office is a safe and comfortable space for all our clients. Our counselling rooms are designed to provide a peaceful environment where you can focus on your thoughts and emotions without any distractions.

Will I get to meet others who have gone through a similar experience to me?

We offer group counselling sessions where clients have the opportunity to meet others who have gone through similar experiences. These sessions can provide a supportive and healing environment where clients can share their feelings and gain perspective from others who have gone through similar challenges. However, group sessions are not a requirement and individual counselling sessions are available as well.

Yes, we take confidentiality very seriously and everything discussed in counselling sessions is kept confidential, except in exceptional circumstances where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others.

We aim to provide a comfortable and safe environment for all our clients. If you have a preference for the gender of your counsellor, we will do our best to accommodate your request, however this is not usually possible.
